THE ASK
Design an immersive card game experience that combines strategy, adventure, and fantasy.
THE Challenge
Create visually appealing design elements that evoke the charm of fairytales while maintaining strategic gameplay.
THE Solution
Seamlessly blend storytelling and strategy, delivering an immersive gaming experience that captivates from start to finish.
Primary Logo
Inspired by fairytale books, our primary logo uses the Fleur typeface to allude to the classic fairytale style. Drawing upon the delicate elements of the typeface, our logo invites players of all ages to embark on a magical journey as they engage with our brand.
Secondary Logo
The secondary logo is a two-tone version of the castle from the game. The castle is an important part of the gameplay, which is why I chose to incorporate it into the game's branding.
Muted colors like dark and light purples, blues, greens, and orangey reds were chosen to create a mature and relaxed experience. The palette aims to enhance the illustrations without being overpowering.
Color Palette
Font Pairing
The primary font, Fleur, brings a touch of whimsy while the secondary font, Gyst Variable, adds versatility and a modern feel. Together, they create a clean and inviting visual identity that is reminiscent of fairytale books.
Playing Cards
Creating the cards for "Magic Land" focused on subtle details and a cohesive design. The color palette, repeated elements, and simple shapes were chosen for clarity and thematic consistency. Incorporating low-opacity elements like dragon scales in the background added a touch of charm without overwhelming the design. One design choice I love in particular was to focus on the dragon's tail rather than trying to create a minimal design of a complex vision.
This approach aimed at hidden details in each card, offering players a delightful discovery with every draw. The cohesive feel established through these design choices extended across the entire project, contributing to the overall immersive and understated enchantment of Magic Land.
